Role Description
The Technical and Design Specialist (Insulation and Flat Roofing) is a full-time, on-site role based in Ely. In this position, the specialist will prepare technical drawings and CAD designs for insulation and flat roofing systems, ensuring solutions meet performance, safety, and regulatory requirements. The role includes providing technical support to internal teams and external clients, interpreting project specifications, and advising on suitable BMI roofing products and systems. Day-to-day tasks involve collaborating with sales, engineering, and installation teams, producing detailed design documentation, and reviewing plans to optimize thermal performance, waterproofing, and constructability. The specialist will also contribute to continuous improvement of design standards, assist with technical training materials, and help maintain accurate technical records and product data.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess strong Technical Drawing and Computer-Aided Design (CAD) skills relevant to insulation and flat roofing solutions.
- Candidates should possess Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering knowledge applicable to building services and roofing system integration.
- Candidates should possess effective Communication skills for collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and advising clients and partners.
- Candidates should possess an understanding of building physics, insulation performance, and waterproofing principles.
- Relevant technical qualification or degree in engineering, architecture, construction, or a related discipline is highly desirable.
- Experience in roofing, building envelope design, or construction detailing is beneficial.
- Strong attention to detail, ability to interpret technical standards, and proficiency with common design and office software are advantageous.
