The Technical Compliance Manager will support the Technical & Compliance Director, focusing on the strategic implementation and operational delivery of compliance initiatives across the organisation. This role safeguards the company's operational integrity and reputation by ensuring all processes, systems, and products meet regulatory standards and industry best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor, interpret, and communicate relevant legislation and standards, particularly UK&I regulations, health and safety, product and testing standards, and quality management to ensure adherence.
- Assist the Director in representing BMI in the development of industry technical standards.
- Develop, implement, and maintain compliance policies and procedures, collaborating with crossâfunctional teams to integrate these practices into daily operations.
- Oversee and conduct regular risk assessments and audits to identify compliance gaps and potential risks within the organisation.
- Develop, manage, and implement effective mitigation strategies and corrective action plans to address all identified compliance issues.
- Provide guidance and support to members of the fieldâbased compliance and Site Services teams, ensuring alignment with business objectives and compliance standards.
- Manage BMI UK&I approved contractor schemes (flat roofing) in terms of onboarding, continuous certification, and maintenance of workmanship standards.
- Handle the complaint inspection system for afterâsales complaints, including personal handling of highâvalue complaints in agreement with line management.
- Design, develop, and sometimes deliver training programs to educate staff on compliance requirements and best practices.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders, industry associations, and external auditors on compliance matters.
- Prepare and present detailed compliance reports to the Technology & Compliance Director and Senior Management.
Key Skills And Experience
- Technical Knowledge: Inâdepth understanding of relevant regulations and standards applicable to the industry, with significant onâsite experience dealing with roofing contractors in pitched and/or flat roofing.
- Leadership & Management: Proven leadership capabilities, including line management experience, to drive a culture of compliance and influence change across the organisation.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problemâsolving abilities to assess complex compliance issues and develop effective solutions.
- Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to simplify and convey complex compliance information clearly to diverse audiences.
- Project Management: Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, including major complaint investigation and reparation works, while meeting deadlines and maintaining highâquality standards.
- Personal Attributes: Strong attention to detail, resilience, selfâmotivation, and a flexible, teamâplayer approach.
