Reporting to: Maintenance Team Leader
Job Grade: P2
Standard Hours (inc shift pattern): Average 47.5 hours per week. Rotating between:
- Week 1: Monday - Thursday: 5:50 - 18.00
- Week 2: Monday - Thursday: 17:50 - 06.00
- Week 3: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday: 06:00 - 18.00 and Saturday: 06:00 - 15.00
Role Summary
You will be responsible for engineering at the plant so it runs efficiently sustaining high performance. You will work as part of a team of Line Technicians to ensure that the Production Lines are maintained and fully operational in order to achieve maximum efficiency levels and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) targets. The role will work closely with the Production team to ensure that CI projects, planned maintenance activities, Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and waste targets are achieved and delivered. You will be a competent Production Line Engineer with the ability to resolve breakdowns safely and efficiently so that production volumes are maximised and the working environment remains safe and hazard free.
Key Responsibilities
- Mechanical and electrical fault finding
- Liaise with team leader to ensure schedules are adhered to
- Ensure all items of plant operate efficiently and safely through implementation of proactive planned maintenance
- Reacting effectively to breakdowns, learning from these undertakings to improve efficiency
- Carry out all engineering disciplines using best Health & Safety and engineering practices
- Maintaining the production plant within safety and quality constraints
- Use appropriate SSWs and PTWs and observing relevant legislation
- Upgrading/enhancing existing plant using technical skill and continuous improvement initiatives
- Contribute to new plant/equipment installation
- Work to fully understand all aspects of plant and machinery including operation, safety and maintenance requirements
- Effective liaison with the Team Leaders and other members of the Management Team
- Assisting with the plant operation when necessary
- Carrying out appropriate quality checks in accordance with the Quality Plan including the use of electronic planned maintenance/recording systems
- Comply with Company policy on accident and near miss follow up reporting
- Monitoring performance of equipment, reporting/rectifying faults, and running breakdowns
- Participating in appropriate maintenance break/shutdown work
- Assisting with the maintenance of good housekeeping in all departments
- Assisting in the training and development of other technical personnel and enhancing own skills by participating in specific training courses/programmes
Key Skills and Experience
- Formal recognised engineering qualification/trained i.e. apprentice trained/NVQ Level 3 in Engineering
- Substantial industry experience as an Engineer or Line Technician
- Electrical knowledge and training
- Must have prior knowledge and experience updating and recording using a "Computer Maintenance Management System", e.g. SAP, Agility, Shires
- Must be proactive and able to balance the right culture working closely with production operatives/team leaders creating an atmosphere of trust and confidence
