We are looking for a skilled GRP Laminator & Finisher to join our team in Ballymena. This role involves fabricating, repairing, and finishing glass-reinforced plastic (GRP) products to ensure high-quality standards. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with GRP laminating and finishing techniques, working with a variety of tools to produce durable and precise components.
Key Responsibilities:
- Laminating Duties:
- Fabricate GRP products according to specifications.
- Prepare moulds and lay up materials for moulding.
- Apply gel coat and resin to moulds.
- Conduct quality inspections to ensure products meet standards.
- Maintain a clean and organised work area.
- Follow safety protocols and wear appropriate PPE.
- Repair and finish all GRP product lines.
- Hand-finish gel coat using wet/dry paper, finishing compounds, orbital sanders, polishers, DA sanders, and blocks.
- Trim GRP using cutting tools.
- Remove imperfections and perform large and small gel and fibreglass repairs.
- Apply gel for repairs and conduct reverse laminating.
- Use fillers for finishing large components.
Required Skills & Experience:
- GRP Laminating experience (1+ year required).
- Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency with hand and power tools, including electric buffers, orbital sanders, grinders, and drills.
- Understanding of GRP finishing, trimming, and quality control processes.
- Ability to follow instructions accurately and efficiently.
Desirable Skills:
- Mould tool and plug repairs.
- Preparation for spraying.
- Advanced trimming and laminating techniques.
