We require a Pre-Construction Manager to work on a project for Southern Water, based in Falmer, East Sussex. You will be required to work on site 3 days per week and 2 hybrid.
Role Description
As Pre-Construction Manager, you will be the framework senior leadership team member driving efficient delivery during the Pre-Construction phase of the programme of our strategic delivery partner framework. Accountable for leading Design, Procurement and Proposals ensuring timely delivery of stage 1 (outline design) submissions that provide affordable solutions aligned to SWS budgets. You will be responsible for the day-to-day management of our Design and innovation, procurement and proposals leads and will need to ensure performance meets the needs of the framework. You will also be the conduit for regular effective communications between pre-Construction and project management teams setting up each project for successful delivery. A key area of this role will be to drive the Collaborative Target Cost agreement process, with support from the wider leadership team ensuring submissions are complete and to a high standard. You will cover both clean water and wastewater portfolios.
Essential Skills and experience:
- Demonstrable leadership skills: trusted, focused and collaborative.
- Excellent understanding of the pre-construction process, interpreting client requirements and converting them to outstanding project solutions that deliver technical, quality, budget, programme, and sustainability targets, whilst achieving sustainable business margins.
- Track record of work winning with knowledge of multiple sectors including public and private.
- Strong knowledge of NEC contracting.
- Experience in bid coordination.
- Understanding of regulated clients.
- Knowledge and experience of project management techniques and the Microsoft Office suite of applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook).
- Strong and resilient negotiating skills.
- Full UK driving licence.
