Section Engineer – HPC
Join BMD Group's Empower Advisory UK as a fully‑time Section Engineer based in Bridgwater, Somerset.
The role requires a 10‑on / 4‑off shift pattern with working hours from 12:00 to 22:30.
You will manage junior engineers, assist the Sub‑Agent in construction operations, and demonstrate a culture of safety and quality.
The main responsibilities include
- Regular communication and reporting to multiple stakeholders to ensure seamless project execution and coordination of subcontractors.
- Allocate labour, plant, materials and temporary works to carry out activities to the required standards, programme and budget.
- Assist with the production of programmes, progress reports, material procurement, resource and cost plans.
- Identify and resolve technical problems on site in liaison with the Sub‑Agent.
- Conduct site evaluations, develop Health & Safety and Quality documentation, provide technical expertise, prepare reports and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
- People management including junior engineers, site engineers, sub‑contractors and operatives.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
- Degree level, HNC/HND qualification in Civil Engineering (or equivalent experience).
- 4+ years of site experience, including setting out, utilities and earthworks.
- Technical knowledge of construction techniques and best practice.
- IT skills including MS Office and Auto CAD 3D.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- BPSS level of security clearance is required.
Desirable
- CSCS, SMSTS, TWS or TWC certificates.
- Experience with BIM/Digital platforms (P6, Aphex, MS Project).
- Aware of commercial processes.
- Leadership and organisational skills.
