We are looking for a Housekeeper to be responsible for the overall supervision and distribution of laundry and domestic duties within the workplace, supporting the domestic team as needed. You will need to efficiently manage all laundry, cleaning of equipment, and room decoration. Working in care can be challenging, but it’s also one of the most rewarding jobs that you can do. Housekeeper Duties and Responsibilities

  • Audit the cleanliness of the building and support the domestic team as needed.
  • Adhere to cleaning schedules and monitor that these are followed.
  • Efficiently manage the laundering of clothing and linen, preventing unnecessary build‑up.
  • Ensure the laundry is identified for the correct loading of the washer(s) and dryer(s).
  • Have a knowledge of wash and drying programmes for different fabrics and separate accordingly.
  • Maintain a regular supply of detergent, fabric conditioner and other cleaning materials as necessary.
  • Be responsible for the maintenance of equipment and the regular de‑fluffing of the dryer(s), reporting any defects to the Manager or Assistant Manager immediately.
  • Have a knowledge of the company’s COSHH and Infection Control policies.
  • Allocate clothes to appropriate baskets and distribute them into resident rooms, ensuring correct marking of resident clothes.
  • Supervise all allocated rooms including furniture, fittings, fabrics, carpets and equipment.
  • Supervise the cleaning of sanitary and other equipment in line with infection control policies.
  • Deal with waste bags in accordance with health & safety and infection control procedures.
  • Work in line with the company’s culture and ethos, promoting Commitment, Connection and Compassion within daily duties.
  • Attend all training as required.
  • Be aware of the Health and Safety statement and COSHH statement.
  • Assist in the completion of the full property list on admission of new clients (short and long term).
  • Ensure full return of items on discharge of clients.
  • Report any missing or damaged belongings to the Manager.
  • Assist with basic mending of clothes and linen according to individual home procedures.
  • Supervise domestic staff.
  • Report the need for redecoration of rooms or areas to the Manager and dress rooms when redecorated & await viewing.
  • Conduct and supervise deep cleaning, including curtains when a room becomes vacant.
  • Ensure effective finance controls – adhering to budgets set out by the company.
