A Laundry/Kitchen Assistant is responsible for ensuring that every resident enjoys clean and well-maintained laundry that meets the required standards. Additionally, as a Kitchen Assistant, you will assist in preparing ingredients, maintaining a clean kitchen, and supporting the cook with meal preparation when needed.

Duties and Responsibilities Include, but Are Not Limited To:

Laundry Assistant:

  1. Efficiently manage the laundering of clothing and linen to prevent unnecessary build-up.
  2. Ensure laundry is correctly identified for loading into washers and dryers.
  3. Have knowledge of wash and drying programs for different fabrics and separate laundry accordingly.
  4. Maintain regular stock of detergent and fabric conditioner.
  5. Maintain laundry equipment and regularly de-fluff dryers, reporting any defects to the Manager or Housekeeper.

Kitchen Assistant:

  1. Assist the cook in preparing vegetables and support during busy periods.
  2. Clean cooking equipment, including the cooker, oven hot plate, Bain Maries, fridges, and freezers, following the cleaning schedule.
  3. Follow the cleaning schedule as directed by the Head Cook.
  4. Handle waste bags in accordance with health, safety, and infection control procedures.
  5. Keep tea trolleys and trays clean at all times.
  6. Maintain the dishwasher to the required standards as per cleaning schedules.
