The BMC product management team defines the future vision for the product line, analyzes business opportunities, specifies and prioritizes customer requirements, engages with product development teams, defines pricing, and supports successful commercial outcomes throughout the product lifecycle.
As Sr. Director of Product Management within our Intelligent Z Optimization and Transformation business unit, you will take responsibility for defining the strategy and execution plan across a team of Product Managers. You will understand and communicate business strategy and work with the product managers to create compelling, high value product roadmaps. This position has cross-portfolio responsibility for driving the AI strategy and integrated delivery across the BMC Automated Mainframe Intelligence (AMI) suite of products of products, while also being responsible for significant multi-million dollar product business line lines across a number of key areas of the BMC mainframe portfolio. You will work with solutions marketing, development and QA, sales and pre-sales, and support teams to ensure that solutions are delivered to plan, the sales teams are enabled, and customers are satisfied.
The ideal candidate will also have had experience of using Design Thinking and client co-creation methodologies to deliver outcome centric products plans. Experience in driving transformation of Product Management practices as a change agent would also be a major plus.
To be successful with us you\’ll need serious and significant enterprise/B2B software product experience; polished and confident communications skills; a strong technical background; and be willing to travel up to 25% of the time. Knowledge and experience of the mainframe environment in a business context is a critical skill we are looking for.
To ensure you’re set up for success, you will bring the following skillset & experience:
Product Management Skills And Experience
- At least 7 years software product management leadership experience in enterprise/B2B software
- Demonstrable experience in a mainframe business environment.
- Knowledge and understanding in one or more areas of Cloud Object Storage, Secure Vault technologies, IT Operations and Gen AI / ML.
- Passion for engaging with customers and understanding their problems
- Demonstrated experience of client co-creation / Design Thinking methodologies and outcome centric product planning and execution
- Experience with complex sales processes, working with sales and presales staff
- Experience collaborating with marketing staff to ensure clear internal & external messaging
Great Communication Skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Fluent English
- Confidence in presenting to different types of audience externally and internally
- The ability to distil complex business and technical requirements into masterful, clear, concise requirements unambiguously prioritized

At BMC, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at /near the top of the range. A reasonable estimate of the current range is £ 119,175 – £ 198,625
