BMC is looking for a Senior QA Automation Engineer (z/OS) to join our AMI Security team in the UK. The role is fully remote and requires an existing UK work permit; visa sponsorship is not available.

What will your day‑to‑day look like?

  • Ensure top‑notch product quality through automation and manual testing from the initial development stages.
  • Design, develop and execute functional & non‑functional test plans.
  • Build and maintain automation scripts using frameworks for system and regression testing.
  • Participate in module design with a focus on high quality, portability, maintainability, and BMC standards compliance.
  • Gain a deep understanding of the technology to be tested, including its purpose, features, and real‑world use cases.
  • Document test results, report defects and track them through resolution using Jira.
  • Collaborate with developers, QA peers, product managers, and customer support to ensure comprehensive test coverage, validate fixes, resolve defects, reproduce complex scenarios, and support customers.
  • Be part of a global team across the USA, United Kingdom, India and Israel.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of hands‑on experience in QA testing with z/OS products.
  • 5+ years of experience in test automation of z/OS products.
  • Strong experience with TSO/ISPF, SMP/E, SDSF, JES2/3, SMF, JCL, z/OS Utilities & z/OSMF.
  • Working experience with REXX & Python.
  • Good RACF knowledge.
  • Experience with front‑end browser‑based QA.
  • Hands‑on experience with Jenkins automation tool.
  • Experience with QA test automation frameworks such as TPNS, UFT, Selenium, Robot Framework, or similar.
  • Excellent communication skills in English.
  • A team player & fast learner, with a passion for the QA field.

Nice to Have

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science or a related field.
  • Knowledge of alternate z/OS security systems such as CA’s ACF2 and CA’s Top Secret.
  • Experience in Assembler, COBOL, JavaScript, HTML, C/C++, SSH or REST APIs.
  • Experience with MS Playwright.
  • Experience with z/VM, z/Linux, Windows, Mac/OS, UNIX or Linux admin & security.
  • Experience with Agile development methodology, including Jira for defect reporting and sprint tracking.

The annual base salary range for this position is £58,350 – £97,250, depending on experience and other factors. This range is one component of BMC’s employee compensation package, which may include a variable plan and country‑specific benefits.
