BMC Recruitment Group is currently recruiting for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a client who specialises in geotechnical contracting and foundation engineering, based in the UK.

Duties/Responsibilities
– Review and negotiate contracts and warranties
– Prepare, submit, and negotiate interim and final accounts
– Liaise with clients and attend meetings
– Manage cash collection to maximise cash flow
– Resolve disputes, including identifying, preparing, and settling variations and claims
– Advise operations staff on commercial and contractual issues
– Prepare commercial and contractual correspondence and ensure adequate records are kept
– Assist in monitoring and maintaining project programmes with operations
– Prepare initial budgets and internal monthly reports, including budget comparisons and re-forecasts
– Assess and report risks and opportunities
– Work closely with operations to identify and resolve commercial and performance issues early
– Procure, pay, and manage subcontractors
– Ensure consistent implementation of the company\’s commercial policies and procedures
– Coach and mentor junior team members
– Maintain a relentless focus on safety – WORKSAFE HOMESAFE
– Embed the company’s core values in all decisions and behaviours
About You
– BSc (Hons) in Quantity Surveying or a relevant qualification with a minimum of 6 years post-qualification experience in the Civil Engineering industry
– Membership of or progression towards membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., RICS or ICES)
– Experience in piling, grouting, and design & build environments is advantageous
– Working knowledge of various forms of contract (including JCT, NEC, and ICE)
– Strong negotiation and influencing skills
– Excellent communication skills (both written and oral) and a team player
– Demonstrated analytical thinking, reasoning, and initiative
– Proven time management and organisational skills
– Strong maths, IT skills, and commercial awareness
– Preferable working knowledge of COINS, Oracle, Microsoft Project, Primavera, CEMAR, and A-Site
