We are recruiting on behalf of our client for a detail-oriented and organised Accounts Assistant to support the day-to-day financial operations of a busy and successful business. This is a varied role that would suit someone who enjoys taking ownership of finance administration while working closely with the wider team to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Reconcile bank, cash and credit card accounts.
  • Maintain debtor and creditor ledgers.
  • Prepare, submit and reconcile VAT returns.
  • Process monthly direct debit collections.
  • Post journals, including prepayments and accruals.
  • Complete account reconciliations through to trial balance at year end.
  • Ensure financial deadlines and statutory requirements are met.
  • Assist with monthly billing and invoicing.
  • Process payroll using Sage Payroll.
  • Provide general office support, including answering telephone enquiries and assisting with ad hoc administrative duties.

Skills & Experience Required

  • Previous experience in an Accounts Assistant or similar bookkeeping role.
  • Essential experience using Sage 50 Accounts.
  • Sage Payroll experience is desirable but not essential.
  • Strong understanding of bookkeeping principles and financial processes.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and spreadsheet software.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Ability to manage workloads and meet deadlines.

Qualifications (Desirable)

  • AAT qualification or equivalent.
