A long-established, family-run accountancy practice in Morpeth is seeking an experienced Accounts Assistant to join their friendly and supportive team. The Opportunity
Due to continued growth and internal team changes, the firm is looking for a capable Accounts Assistant who can confidently support across accounts, VAT, bookkeeping, and payroll. You’ll work closely with the Accounts Manager and business owner, contributing to a smooth and efficient service for clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparing statutory accounts for a range of clients
- Preparing and submitting VAT returns
- Assisting with bookkeeping tasks
- Supporting payroll processing
- Using a variety of accounting systems (including Sage, Xero, Excel, TaxCalc, BrightPay)
- Communicating with clients to gather information and resolve queries
- Working collaboratively with colleagues to meet deadlines and maintain accuracy
About You
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- At least 5 years’ experience within an accountancy practice
- Strong knowledge of accounts preparation, VAT, and bookkeeping
- AAT Level 4 qualification with relevant post-qualification experience
- Confidence in communicating with clients and colleagues
- The ability to manage your workload and meet deadlines consistently
