We are currently seeking a Credit Controller to join our BM Steel division on a fixed-term contract for 6 to 12 months. This role is based on a Monday to Friday working pattern, 8.30am to 5pm, with 1 hour lunch break.

The Role

As Credit Controller, you will play a key role in managing customer accounts, reducing aged debt and maintaining strong relationships with customers and internal stakeholders. This is a varied role requiring excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage priorities effectively.

Key Responsibilities

  • Chasing outstanding payments by telephone and email.
  • Managing and monitoring customer accounts to minimise overdue debt.
  • Opening new credit and cash sale accounts.
  • Assessing customer creditworthiness and setting appropriate credit limits.
  • Liaising with Sales and Depot Managers regarding customer credit limits and payment terms.
  • Assisting with account reconciliations and chasing remittances.
  • Resolving customer account queries in a timely and professional manner.
  • Providing copy invoices and proof of delivery documentation when required.
  • Processing debit and credit card payments through the online payment portal.
  • Participating in weekly debtor review meetings.
  • Supporting debt recovery activities and legal collection processes where necessary.
  • Responding promptly to internal and external enquiries.
  • Supporting ad hoc projects and administrative tasks as required.
  • Working collaboratively as part of the wider finance team.
