We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Health & Safety Manager to join our fast‑paced Supply Chain Operations team, working nationally across our Distribution Centres, Transport Network, and Recycling Facilities. This is a field‑based role with regular travel across the UK. You’ll typically spend one day per week in the office and one day focused on administration, with the remainder of your time on‑site across our supply‑chain network.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a confident Health & Safety leader with strong logistics, transport, or industrial experience, looking to make a real impact in a high‑risk, fast‑moving operational environment.
The key responsibilities are:
- Supporting the Group Head of Health & Safety in delivering key safety objectives across the supply chain
- Providing technical health & safety expertise to Distribution Centres, transport operations, and recycling sites
- Line managing and coaching a team of Health & Safety Managers
- Driving consistent safety standards and behaviours across all sites
- Reviewing and improving operational safety controls and risk assessments
- Leading RIDDOR reporting and maintaining oversight of serious incidents
- Engaging confidently with regulators including HSE, Fire & Rescue, and Local Authorities
- Overseeing key risk areas such as MHE/FLT operations, HGV movements, racking, automation, and contractor management
- Supporting training, competence assurance, site inductions, toolbox talks, and safety briefings
- Supporting site developments, automation projects, refurbishments, and CDM 2015
What we’re looking for:
- NEBOSH General Certificate (minimum)
- Strong experience across multi‑site supply chain, logistics, industrial, or transport operations
- Proven people management and coaching experience
- Excellent knowledge of workplace transport, FLT/MHE operations, fire safety, and racking systems
- Experience with RIDDOR reporting and engaging with regulators
- Strong communication, influencing, and stakeholder management skills
- Confidence to challenge constructively at all levels
- Highly analytical, accurate, and detail‑focused
- Self‑motivated, proactive, and comfortable working at pace across complex operational environments
