B&M European Value Retail S.A. is a leading FTSE 250 variety retailer, bringing great value to customers in the UK and France. Operating a portfolio of over 1,100 stores under the \”B&M\” and \”Heron Foods\” fascias in the UK, and \”B&M\” in France, we are a growing business with a clear strategy focused on delivering exceptional value to our customers through direct sourcing, a high-volume/limited-assortment model, and disciplined store execution. Our strategy has established us as a key player in the European retail landscape, and we remain keen to develop further.

Following a recent CEO transition, and separately the announcement of the retirement of the incumbent IR officer, we are seeking a Head of Investor Relations to lead our engagement with the investment community and clearly articulate our compelling equity and debt story.

The Head of Investor Relations will be responsible for developing and executing B&M\’s investor relations strategy. This role involves fostering strong relationships with equity and debt investors, analysts, and the wider financial community. The successful candidate will work closely with the CEO, CFO, Board of Directors, the senior B&M Finance Team and other senior operational executives to enhance B&M\’s reputation and ensure transparent and consistent messaging. This role will require presence at our Support Centre in Speke, Liverpool on a weekly basis.

The Key Responsibilities in the role are:

Strategy & Planning:

• Develop and implement a comprehensive investor relations strategy.
• Stay abreast of and advise management on equity / debt market sentiment, competitor investor relations activity, market data, and other industry trends, providing actionable insights.
• Contribute to the strategic planning process by providing an external market perspective.

Communication & Engagement:

• Serve as the primary point of contact for the investment community (institutional investors, sell-side analysts, and private investors).
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders through proactive communication, including roadshows, conferences, and individual meetings.
• Work with the B&M Finance and Company Secretarial teams to prepare and manage the release of financial results (annual and interim reports, quarterly trading statements), investor presentations, press releases.
• Organise and lead investor roadshows, conferences, and site visits.
• Manage the content and ensure the accuracy of the investor relations section of the company website.
• Draft scripts and Q&A documents for earnings calls and other investor events.
• Monitor and report on shareholder movements and an analysis of the share register.

Financial Reporting & Analysis:

• Work closely with the finance team to ensure a deep understanding of the company\’s financial performance, forecasts, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
• Effectively communicate financial results and complex financial information in a clear and concise manner.
• Monitor and analyse sell-side analyst models and consensus estimates.
• Provide regular feedback to the executive team and Board on investor perceptions and concerns.

Internal Collaboration:

• Collaborate effectively with internal teams to ensure consistent messaging and alignment.
• Support the CEO and CFO in their interactions with the investment community.
• Prepare briefing materials for senior management ahead of investor meetings and presentations.

The Qualifications & Experience required are:

• Proven track record of either success in a senior investor relations role within a FTSE 350 company or working within relevant equity capital markets areas for a well-established investment bank / stockbroker.
• Significant experience in the retail or consumer sectors is highly desirable.
• Strong financial acumen, with a thorough understanding of financial statements, valuation methodologies, and capital markets.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex information clearly and persuasively to diverse audiences.
• In-depth knowledge of UK financial regulations and corporate governance.
