You will be responsible for working with both retail colleagues and managers in 750 stores nationwide, providing Employee Relation support for complex cases face to face. We are looking for a model of best practice who can focus on de-escalating any HR issue to mitigate the need for a formal process. This role will act as the point of escalation for grievances, disciplinaries, dismissals and other more serious ER cases.
The day to day role will:
- Be a point of escalation for sensitive ER issues, fostering an environment where conflicts are resolved informally.
- You’ll work closely with both managers and employees to guide conversations towards productive outcomes.
- Navigate difficult employee relations issues, from conflict resolution to disciplinary matters, while maintaining a calm, solution-focused approach.
- Be able to travel to multiple locations to support colleagues face to face in store.
- Balance multiple priorities ensuring a smooth solution to any ER case.
To be successful, you’ll have:
- Proven experience in a generalist HR role, with a focus on employee relations and case management.
- A strong ability to remain calm under pressure and deal with challenging, often emotional, situations while maintaining professionalism and a commercial approach.
- Strong experience in mediation and the ability to influence key stakeholders to resolve issues before they escalate.
- The ability to think on your feet and offer pragmatic, solutions-focused advice to managers and colleagues.
- An understanding of UK employment law and best HR practices, with the ability to apply it in tough situations.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to articulate sensitive information clearly and diplomatically.
- Worked within a commercial setting which places emphasis on a pragmatic approach to finding solutions.
