Are you looking for an exciting new challenge? Do you have great communication skills? B&M are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Security Team Leader to oversee and lead the security operations at our Bedford Distribution Centre. This is a pivotal leadership role requiring a strong ability to manage, motivate, and develop a security team to ensure a safe, secure, and compliant working environment. This position is for a 36-hour contract. Set shift pattern – Working Nights 19:00pm – 07:00am, Thursday‑Saturday. The ideal candidate will be fully flexible.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage an effective security team within a distribution centre environment.
  • Lead and develop security team members within their roles and responsibilities.
  • Collaborate closely with the Security Team Manager to implement and enforce security policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Manage CCTV requests as they come in.
  • Oversee access control for all personnel and vehicles entering and exiting the premises.
  • Coordinate and conduct regular security patrols and thorough inspections of the site.
  • Manage vehicle bookings and ensure all security protocols are followed during vehicle entry/exit.
  • Conduct vehicle and colleague searches in line with company policies.
  • Accurately record and report all security incidents, ensuring timely and thorough documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with Data Protection regulations, Health & Safety standards, and company policies.
  • Effectively handle conflict situations with strong conflict resolution and de‑escalation skills.
  • Provide regular performance feedback and support team members’ development.

Essential Skills And Experience

  • Preferred experience in a security leadership or supervisory role.
  • Strong leadership skills with a demonstrated ability to manage, motivate, and develop a team.
  • Knowledge of security protocols, Health & Safety legislation, and Data Protection laws.
  • Excellent conflict management and incident resolution skills, with the ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with attention to detail in reporting and data input.
