B&M is looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Tax Analyst to join our Treasury and Tax team. The role offers broad exposure across VAT, Corporation Tax, tax governance, compliance, and risk management within a FTSE 250 retail business generating over £5.6 billion in annual revenue.
Joining our Treasury and Tax team, you'll gain broad exposure across VAT, Corporation Tax, tax governance, compliance, and risk management, with the opportunity to take ownership, drive improvements, and make a real impact. The role also offers exposure to treasury activities, providing a well‑rounded development opportunity within a fast‑paced FTSE 250 retail business.
The key accountabilities of the role will be:
- Support the preparation and submission of UK VAT and Corporation Tax compliance obligations, including returns, computations, and tax‑related statutory disclosures.
- Assist in maintaining the Group's tax governance and control framework, including SAO requirements, tax risk registers, and supporting documentation for technical tax positions.
- Support interactions with HMRC, including responding to queries, audits, correspondence, and Business Risk Review activities.
- Contribute to the development and enhancement of tax processes, systems, and controls, including support for Making Tax Digital requirements and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Opportunity to provide support to the wider Treasury and Tax team on selected treasury activities, including cash forecasting, controls, reporting, and mandate administration.
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Experience working with UK VAT and/or Corporation Tax, either within industry or a professional practice environment.
- A good understanding of tax compliance processes, governance frameworks, and risk management controls.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across Finance and the wider business.
- Ideally newly qualified in a relevant qualification (CTA, ACA, ACCA, or ICAS), although strong part‑qualified candidates or those studying towards qualification will also be considered.
- An interest in working within a fast‑paced retail or high‑volume environment, with a willingness to broaden your expertise across both Tax and Treasury disciplines.
