B&M Retail is one of the UK's leading variety retailers, continuing to grow at pace with an ambitious expansion strategy. We are looking for a hands-on Business Architect to establish, shape and embed our end-to-end process landscape as part of our B&M Back to Basics Transformation Programme. This is a unique opportunity to build process capability from the ground up in a business where formal processes are still evolving. You will define the standards, create the taxonomy, and map the organisation’s key processes end-to-end, leaving a lasting legacy of clarity, simplicity and operational excellence. This role is a 12 month fixed term contract based at our Support Centre in Speke.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish and own the business process capability framework
- Develop the process taxonomy and end-to-end (E2E) process architecture
- Create structured process maps (L0–L4, and L5 where appropriate)
- Define and implement a consistent process mapping standard across the business
- Map processes capturing organisation design, systems, manual activities, controls, reporting and hand-offs
- Identify and resolve interdependencies across business areas
- Work closely with functional leads and technology teams to gather inputs
- Challenge and simplify both new and emerging processes to build a more efficient operating model
- Coach and upskill business teams to embed sustainable process ownership
- Ensure all processes are user-centred and aligned to the future operating model
Success Criteria
- Enjoy bringing structure to complexity and ambiguity, building clarity at all levels within the business
- Have experience building process frameworks in environments where processes are immature or undocumented
- Can translate information from multiple sources into clear taxonomies and process maps
- Understand end-to-end thinking and cross-functional hand-offs
- Have strong stakeholder management and influencing skills
- Are comfortable challenging ways of working to drive simplification
- Hold a Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt (or have equivalent practical experience)
- Have experience working in transformation or large change programmes
