B&M are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Security Team Leader to oversee and lead the security operations at our Bedford Distribution Centre. This is a pivotal leadership role requiring a strong ability to manage, motivate, and develop a security team to ensure a safe, secure, and compliant working environment.
This position is for a 48-hour contract. Set shift pattern – Working Nights 19:00pm – 07:00am, Wednesday-Saturday. The ideal candidate will be fully flexible.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage an effective security team within a distribution centre environment.
- Lead and develop security team members within their roles and responsibilities.
- Collaborate closely with the Security Team Manager to implement and enforce security policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Manage CCTV requests as they come in.
- Oversee access control for all personnel and vehicles entering and exiting the premises.
- Coordinate and conduct regular security patrols and thorough inspections of the site.
- Manage vehicle bookings and ensure all security protocols are followed during vehicle entry/exit.
- Conduct vehicle and colleague searches in line with company policies.
- Accurately record and report all security incidents, ensuring timely and thorough documentation.
- Ensure compliance with Data Protection regulations, Health & Safety standards, and company policies.
- Effectively handle conflict situations with strong conflict resolution and de-escalation skills.
- Provide regular performance feedback and support team members’ development.
Essential Skills And Experience
- Preferred experience in a security leadership or supervisory role.
- Strong leadership skills with a demonstrated ability to manage, motivate, and develop a team.
- Knowledge of security protocols, Health & Safety legislation, and Data Protection laws.
- Excellent conflict management and incident resolution skills, with the ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with attention to detail in reporting and data input.
