The Leadership & Learning Manager – Business Professionals will be responsible for shaping and delivering learning and leadership (L&L) development strategies for Baker McKenzie’s global Business Professional community. The role-holder will ensure that Business Professionals at all levels have the skills, capabilities, and leadership behaviours required to support the Firm’s strategy, enhance client service, and operate effectively within a global, matrixed professional services environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Business Professional Learning Strategy
- Develop and implement a learning strategy specifically aligned to the needs of Business Professionals across functions and regions.
- Ensure learning priorities support firmwide objectives, operational excellence, and future ready capability building.
- Translate business needs into practical, high impact learning solutions.
- Help maximize the use of LinkedIn Learning and other learning platforms by promoting courses and supporting learner engagement and assist with coordinating training opportunities with external providers when required.
- Leadership & Capability Development
- Design and deliver leadership and management development programmes for Business Professionals.
- Support career progression, talent pipelines, and succession planning within Business Services.
- Embed consistent leadership behaviours and ways of working across functions and geographies.
- Integrate AI tools into our learning eco-system to enhance learner engagement and drive innovation.
- Program Design & Delivery
- Lead end-to-end design, delivery, and evaluation of learning programs, including core professional skills (e.g. management, collaboration, influencing), functional and cross functional capability development, and change, transformation, and ways of working initiatives.
- Ensure learning solutions are future focused, inclusive, and blended (virtual, digital, and in person).
- Stakeholder & Global Collaboration
- Partner closely with Business Professional teams, HR Business Partners, and regional learning colleagues.
- Build strong relationships across functions to ensure learning is relevant and impactful.
- Coordinate with regional and global stakeholders to balance consistency with local needs.
- Measurement & Continuous Improvement
- Evaluate the effectiveness and impact of learning initiatives using data, feedback, and business outcomes.
- Continuously improve learning design based on insights and emerging best practice.
- Manage external vendors and learning partners where appropriate.
Skills And Experience
- Significant experience in learning and leadership development, ideally within professional services or a complex global organization.
- Proven experience designing and delivering learning for Business Professionals or corporate functions.
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence senior non-legal leaders.
- Experience working in a global, matrixed environment.
- Excellent facilitation, communication, and program management skills.
- Experience within a law firm or partnership-based organization.
- Coaching experience or qualification.
- Familiar with digital learning platforms and learning analytics.
- Experience supporting organizational change or transformation programs.
- Commercially aware with a strong understanding of Business Services environments.
- Collaborative, inclusive, and culturally sensitive.
- Confident and credible with the ability to challenge constructively.
- Pragmatic, adaptable, and solutions focused.
