We're working with a well-established professional services business in Nottingham who are looking for a Head of Finance to join their team on a permanent basis. The business is in excellent financial shape, profitable, with strong cashflow and growing naturally through organic sales success, making this a great opportunity to join a stable and well-run organisation at an exciting point in its journey.

This is a genuinely broad role covering everything from the day to day running of the finance function through to direct support of the board, so it would suit someone who is just as comfortable rolling their sleeves up as they are adding commercial value and strategic insight at a senior level.

You'll oversee monthly and annual accounts, manage the relationship with external auditors, and take ownership of cashflow, payroll, tax compliance and the wider banking relationship, as well as a number of other responsibilities around operational reliability and managing costs across the business. You'll manage a small finance team of one, who has been with the business for over five years and knows the function inside out, so this is very much a role about adding value and direction rather than rebuilding from scratch.

The business is genuinely flexible on how this role is structured, whether that's full-time or four days a week, and hybrid working is on offer provided there's a good office presence of at least three days a week. Free parking is available on site, which is always a nice bonus.

What we're looking for:

  • A qualified accountant who is hands-on, organised and comfortable owning the day to day
  • Someone who can also step back and add commercial and strategic value to the board
  • Comfortable picking up broader operational responsibilities as they arise
  • It would be ideal, although not essential, to have some experience of HR matters such as performance, sickness or pay reviews
  • A genuine team player who is happy supporting and developing a small, established team

This is a great opportunity to join a stable, well-run SME business in a role that offers real variety and the chance to make a genuine impact. Interested or want to find out more? Get in touch for a confidential conversation.
