For many qualified accountants, becoming a Financial Controller is the natural next step, but genuine opportunities to make that move don't come along very often. This is one of them. We're working with a rapidly expanding international business that has already established itself as a market leader and is now entering an exciting new phase of growth. With ambitious plans to significantly increase turnover over the coming years, they’re investing heavily in their people, systems and leadership team to build a finance function capable of supporting that journey.
Reporting directly to the Group Finance Director, this is an opportunity to take your first step into a Group Financial Controller position, giving you exposure well beyond a traditional Finance Manager or Senior Management Accountant role. You’ll have the chance to influence the future of the finance function, support major business change and develop into a senior finance leader as the business continues to grow. This is an environment for ambitious people who enjoy being challenged, embrace change and want to play a genuine part in shaping the future of a business, rather than simply maintaining the status quo.
The Role
You’ll take ownership of financial control across multiple entities, ensuring accurate reporting, strong controls and high quality financial information for the wider business. Alongside managing and developing members of the finance team, you’ll also play a key role in several strategic projects, including the implementation of a new ERP system.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading the month end close and management reporting process
- Maintaining balance sheet integrity and strengthening financial controls
- Supporting statutory accounts, audit and VAT compliance
- Managing and developing members of the finance team
- Supporting cashflow reporting and working capital improvements
- Driving process improvements and finance transformation initiatives
- Playing a key role in the ERP implementation
We’re looking for a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with strong technical accounting skills, excellent Excel capability and the ambition to step into their first Financial Controller position. Experience within a fast paced commercial environment and exposure to ERP implementations would be advantageous, but attitude, resilience and the desire to learn are just as important.
If you’re ready to take the next step in your finance career and want to grow alongside an ambitious business with significant plans for the future, I’d love to hear from you.
