A job opportunity has arisen for a Payroll Professional to join an established firm of accountants based in Northampton, offering significant hybrid working, following completion of a successful probation period. Applicants must live within a sensible commute of Northampton.

The salary is negotiable, depending on experience and qualification level. The role can suit both full-time and part-time applicants and may involve some bookkeeping work for full-time applicants, but the firm is open to discussion on the composition of the job to suit your skills and preferences.

This role is ideal for an organised and detail-oriented payroll professional who enjoys managing a varied client portfolio and delivering an accurate, efficient payroll service. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing payrolls for a range of clients, from director-only payrolls to larger payrolls with variable pay and working hours. You will also provide excellent client support, respond to payroll-related queries, and work closely with colleagues to ensure a high standard of service.

The role can include a blend of both payroll and bookkeeping, with the role being 80% payroll focused, and the remaining 20% involving bookkeeping work.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage a portfolio of payroll clients, ensuring all payrolls are processed accurately and on time.
  • Process a variety of payroll frequencies, including weekly, fortnightly and monthly payrolls.
  • Calculate and process payroll in line with current legislation and company procedures.
  • Respond to client payroll queries in a professional and timely manner.
  • Provide payroll advice and support to colleagues within the team.
  • Maintain accurate payroll records and ensure confidentiality of client information.
  • Keep up to date with payroll legislation and best practice.
