We are now looking for a Senior Nurse to join us on a part-time, permanent basis, working from 35 hours per week, including three day shifts per week and one on-call night shift per fortnight. There may also be an opportunity for additional hours. The role is term-time only with two weeks to be worked during the school holidays.

The Role

As our Senior Nurse, you will lead the day-to-day operation of our campus Medical Centre and provide the highest standards of care for pupils throughout the school. You will assess and treat a range of minor illnesses and injuries, co-ordinate nursing care, oversee medication administration, and ensure safeguarding and health policies are upheld at all times. Acting as our lead for mental health and safeguarding matters, you will also liaise closely with parents, house staff, medical officers and school counsellors.

Additionally, you will:

  • Provide a high standard of nursing care in line with the NMC code of conduct
  • Co-ordinate the nursing rota and ensure suitable staffing across shifts
  • Attend Welfare Committee meetings and support with safeguarding issues
  • Maintain and update medical records and ensure the secure handling of information
  • Promote health education and pupil wellbeing across the school community

About You

To be considered as a Senior Nurse, you will need:

  • To be a Registered Nurse with a minimum of three years managerial experience
  • Experience of working independently and leading a team
  • Strong clinical expertise and knowledge of sports injuries, first aid and adolescent care
  • Competency in ICT systems and documentation
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills
  • A proactive, flexible and empathetic approach
  • A strong understanding of safeguarding responsibilities and a commitment to pupil wellbeing
