Founded in 1604, Blundell’s is a co-educational independent school for pupils aged 3 – 18 years. Boasting excellent facilities and the best in pastoral care, we are committed to providing an outstanding learning experience for all students. Based in 90 acres of beautiful Devon countryside, Blundell’s fosters a friendly and open environment where both students and staff can thrive.
We are now looking for a Porter to join us on a full-time, permanent basis, working 40 hours per week, 12pm-9pm, Monday to Friday, with a fortnightly half day on Saturday during term time.

The Role
As a Porter, you will ensure that our school is perfectly maintained and a suitable space for the varied activities that ensure our educational offering is broad and engaging for students. Specifically, you will make sure classrooms, offices, workshops, laboratories, and shared spaces are clean and tidy, support events with furniture and equipment and help keep the school functioning effectively on a day-to-day basis.
Additionally, you will:
- Deliver laundry, parcels, stationery and supplies across the site
- Carry out locking and unlocking duties when required
- Report maintenance issues, hazards or damages
- Support external lettings and commercial use of school facilities
Please note, this role involves regular manual handling and lifting.
About You
To be considered as a Porter, you will need:
- Previous experience in a cleaning role
- Good communication and customer service skills
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team
- A strong eye for detail
A full, valid driving licence would be an advantage.
