At Blumilk we’re looking for one or two graphic designers to join the team full time at our studio in Newcastle. We have a steady stream of work across sectors like Utilities, Transport, Health and Education, with clients who value clear, professional, well-crafted design.

We’re hiring for two slightly different roles. Read both and tell us which one sounds like you.

  • Role 1: Creative Designer
We need someone full of ideas who is also happy to get stuck into the day-to-day churn of a busy studio. One day you might be working up creative concepts, the next you’re turning around social assets, slide decks, infographics and brand collateral. You work at pace and you’re comfortable switching between quick requests and blank page briefs.
  • Role 2: Layout and Production Designer
We need a safe pair of hands. The core of this role is long-form work: annual reports, strategy documents, prospectuses and research papers. These are often complex, data heavy and text heavy, and they need a high level of technical precision. You should be an expert in InDesign (styles, master pages, managing large files without them breaking) with a real eye for typography. Baseline grids, and clean layouts matter here. You don’t flinch at large page counts or multiple rounds of amends, and you can work quickly without letting the quality slip.

What we’re looking for:

  • A strong portfolio that shows the kind of work that fits the role you’re applying for.
  • Good Adobe Creative Suite skills. InDesign expertise is essential for the layout role.
  • Very high attention to detail and the ability to work at speed.
  • A calm, organised approach. You hit your deadlines and you don’t panic when the amends come in.
  • Good communication. You’re a proactive part of the team.

We’re flexible on years of experience. If your portfolio is strong and you have a good work ethic, we want to hear from you.

The Setup:

  • Full time, based at our Newcastle studio.
  • £25,000 to £35,000 depending on experience.
  • 28 days holiday plus bank holidays.
  • Workplace pension.
  • A training budget and room to develop.
  • You’ll work closely with our creative team under clear art direction.

Interested? Apply by email. Please include:

  • Your portfolio as a PDF attachment (not just a link).
  • Your salary expectations.
  • A short note on which role suits you best.

We can’t consider applications without a PDF portfolio and salary expectations. No approaches from recruitment consultancies, please.
