Our client is a highly successful digital and creative agency, and they are recruiting a UX/UI Designer who can design smart, user-focused websites and apps, confidently shape proposals, and collaborate closely with development to deliver beautifully executed WordPress builds. This is a full-time permanent role working onsite at the office with flexibility in the future for it to become hybrid.
About the role
As a growing digital team within a marketing agency, they are looking for a designer who understands that great UX isn’t decoration, it’s structure, logic, and clarity. You’ll work closely with their Development and Account management teams to design and lead the UX and UI for websites and occasional app projects across a diverse client base - from brochure sites to more functional, content-driven platforms. This role sits at the intersection of strategy, design, and development.
You’ll:
- Lead UX discovery sessions
- Plan user journeys, site architecture and information structure
- Create wireframes, prototypes and high-fidelity UI designs
- Present and contribute to proposals
- Hand off production-ready assets in Figma
- Carry out lightweight development tasks (content updates, layout adjustments, plugin configuration)
They primarily build WordPress sites, so understanding how themes, templates and plugins function is essential. You don’t need to be a full-stack developer, but you must design with build constraints in mind and be comfortable working in HTML/CSS when required. This is an office-based role in their Chobham studio, and they believe digital work is stronger when designers and developers sit side by side solving problems together.
What you’ll do
- Plan user journeys, sitemaps and website architecture
- Create wireframes, prototypes, UI systems and landing pages in Figma
- Present UX and design thinking in client proposals
- Design responsive interfaces with strong typography, hierarchy and spacing
- Produce production-ready assets and clear documentation for development
- Apply accessibility and usability best practice throughout
- Work within WordPress environments to update layouts, configure plugins and support live sites
- Collaborate daily with development to ensure designs are practical, scalable and performance-conscious
Core skills
- Strong visual design fundamentals: typography, hierarchy, spacing, colour
- Experience with Figma and Adobe Creative Suite
- Working knowledge of HTML and CSS
- Clear understanding of UX principles and accessibility standards
- Ability to design within technical constraints
- Confidence presenting ideas internally and to clients
You’re confident designing responsive websites. You understand how WordPress works and are keen to deepen your technical knowledge. You understand development well enough to avoid designing the impossible.
You’ll need:
- Commercial experience (agency preferred)
- Experience creating wireframes and UI layouts
- Basic WordPress knowledge (themes, plugins, page structure)
- A strong portfolio showing digital thinking
- Ability to write sections of proposals and presenting digital strategy
- Ability to balance creative ambition with technical reality
Nice to have
- Experience designing app interfaces
- Familiarity with headless CMS environments
- Awareness of performance optimisation principles
- Experience collaborating with React or modern JS environments
Benefits include 25 Days holiday a year (holiday must be taken between Christmas and New Year), Free Parking, Onsite Yoga and Private Healthcare.
