We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Head of Finance to join the business on a temporary, full-time basis to cover maternity leave. Reporting to the senior leadership team, the Head of Finance will be responsible for providing financial leadership while also overseeing the day-to-day operation of the finance function. This role combines high-level financial planning and commercial support with operational leadership, ensuring robust financial controls, accurate reporting, effective cash management, and the successful delivery of finance-related projects. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting business performance, driving process improvements, and providing trusted financial insight to stakeholders across the organisation.
About the position:
- Salary range £100,000-£130,000, depending on experience
- This position is office based 5 days a week at our office in Manvers, Rotherham.
- Fixed-term contract - maternity cover
- Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Management & Reporting: Oversee the preparation of monthly management accounts and board reporting. Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting and statutory compliance. Manage cash flow forecasting, working capital and treasury activities. Maintain robust financial controls, policies and governance frameworks. Lead Corporation Tax planning and management, including the preparation of tax calculations, forecasting of tax liabilities, and planning of quarterly instalment payments to optimise cash flow and ensure compliance.
- Finance Team & Operational Leadership: Oversee the day-to-day running of the finance function. Ensure efficient execution of transactional finance activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and month-end close processes. Lead and deliver key finance projects and business improvement initiatives. Manage system implementations, process redesign and finance transformation activities where required. Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders to improve reporting, controls and operational efficiency.
- Stakeholder Management: Act as the primary finance contact for auditors, banks, advisors and external stakeholders. Present financial information clearly and confidently to senior leadership and board-level stakeholders.
Skills & Experience:
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
- Previous experience operating at senior finance leadership level.
- Strong technical accounting and financial management expertise.
- Exceptional attention to detail, with a proven ability to maintain accuracy and quality across financial reporting, controls, and analysis.
- Experience leading finance teams and managing day-to-day finance operations.
- Proven track record of delivering finance projects and process improvements.
Desirable, but not essential:
- Experience supporting international business expansion, including the establishment of financial processes, controls and compliance frameworks.
- Knowledge of US tax, regulatory and reporting requirements.
