The Association seeks to appoint a Research Data Manager to manage and lead research data management requirements. You will be fully conversant with current research data management practices and act as primary contact for researchers and facilitating access to data for external research groups. The post holder will have an interest in healthcare data analyses ideally with some awareness of pharmacoepidemiology or other related research. You will take overall responsibility for enabling data from the department study to be used effectively for research. This will include preparing datasets tailored for specific research questions. The post holder will be expected to maintain excellent governance standards and appropriately document decisions taken during dataset building and data sharing. The post will be based on Manchester Science Park, a short distance from the main University campus and is suitable for Hybrid Working. The post is available full time for immediate start until 31/07/2026.
Essential skills:
- Knowledge and experience of using any statistical language such as Stata, SPSS, Python statistical packages
- Experience of ETL (Extract, Transform and Load) and working with large datasets and databases
- Experience of understanding scientific/health literature
- Experience of data management, including preparation of data extracts
- Experience of assessing the completeness and quality of data
- Understanding of the key issues and principles of Research Data Management
- Understanding of the principles of data anonymisation
- Excellent communication skills in English, including explaining data analyses and/or scientific processes to peer and lay audience
