The Role: Every product that leaves our factory is subject to extensive pre-delivery testing to ensure safety and performance as part of our ISO9001 accredited Quality Management System. We are now looking for a capable and conscientious engineer to join the team. You will be working in a fast-moving production environment and testing a huge range of laboratory equipment - from wind tunnels to flow channels and heat transfer equipment to gas turbine demonstrators. You will be expected to be able to follow established test procedures to check components, sub-assemblies and finished products and use your initiative to identify and rectify issues within tight deadlines. This is a demanding role in which you will need to display a rare combination of attention to detail and careful adherence to procedure with the ability to analyse and solve problems on complex, low volume equipment.
Duties will include:
- Ensure safe testing of mechanical products and sub-assemblies to the relevant test methods, and to test products in accordance with priorities given by the Senior Test Engineer.
- The logging of test data, where possible, for future reference.
- Fault find where needed to component level.
- Use the MRN system to improve product information and test methods.
- To inspect bought in items to design specification and accept and reject as necessary.
- Assist with repair/returns as necessary.
- To assist with manufactured parts inspection as required and accept or reject.
- To maintain accurate bookings within the DART system.
- From time to time the testing of very simple electrical units, and calibration of electrical parts such as load cells and PCBs.
Role Requirements:
- Previous test experience in a relevant mechanical/inspection background.
- Able to read and interpret engineering drawings and diagnose faults.
- Flexible, positive approach, attention to detail and ability to think outside of the box.
- Minimum of HNC in Mechanical engineering or equivalent experience.
- Fitting, assembly, or prototype build experience.
- Experience calibrating equipment.
- F-Gas Certification.
- ISO Quality background/knowledge.
- Basic wire checking skills.
