As part of our continued growth, we have an exciting opportunity for an Electrical Estimator to join the HF family at our Glasgow office. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, analysing project requirements, and supporting the successful delivery of projects. This is a permanent role that promises unique challenges, a varied workload and great career progression opportunities.
The successful candidate will be responsible for but not limited to:
- Analysing tender documents, drawings, and specifications to prepare detailed cost estimates.
- Accurately measuring quantities and preparing bills of quantities/schedules of works.
- Liaising with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain competitive quotations.
- Preparing tender adjudication reports and participating in tender reviews.
- Ensuring all estimating processes comply with company procedures and industry standards.
- Developing and maintaining strong working relationships with clients, consultants, and supply chain partners.
- Providing input into risk assessments, value engineering, and alternative solutions.
- Supporting post-tender negotiations and handover of successful projects to delivery teams.
- Keeping up to date with material costs, labour rates, and market conditions.
- Maintaining estimating records, databases, and price libraries for future reference.
Key Skills, Qualifications and Experience Required:
- Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in work.
- Ability to manage multiple tenders to tight deadlines.
- Good communication and negotiation skills.
- Strong organisational and time management abilities.
- Team player with the ability to work independently.
- Relevant construction or electrical engineering qualification (e.g., HNC/HND, NVQ, or degree in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or related discipline).
- Good knowledge of estimating software and Microsoft Office.
- Proven experience in an estimating role within an M&E, related sector.
- Experience preparing tenders and cost plans for projects of varying size and complexity.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
