Job Title: Locomotive Boilersmith/Fitter
Location: The Watercress Line – Ropley Station – On site working required
Salary: Competitive
Job Type: Permanent Full Time 40 hours per week (with 30 minutes paid break) – 5 days over 7. Regular weekend, evening and holiday working will be required.
Hours: Core working hours are 0815 – 1700, however a reasonable amount of flexibility is essential
Holidays: 31 days including bank holiday allowance

The Watercress Line a heritage steam railway operated by award-winning volunteers and supported by paid staff, bringing smiles to faces through the beautiful Hampshire countryside for 50 years.
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, experienced Locomotive Boilersmith/Fitter to be part of a team to carry out the overhaul, restoration and maintenance of our running fleet of steam locomotives and diesel shunters.
As a Locomotive Boilersmith/Fitter the responsibilities of the role will be:
* Boiler repairs, including stay replacement, plate work renewal, tubing, hot riveting
* Undertake the running maintenance as well as overhaul repairs
* Fabrication works – ARC and MIG welding, plasma cutting and oxy-propane cutting
* Working to imperial drawings and existing or old components to undertake the repairs required
* Removal and fitting of components
* Maintaining a safe, clean and tidy work environment
* Shunting & plant driving (not essential – training can be given if required)
* Workshop & site improvements
Knowledge Skills and Experience required:
Essential;
* Experience of working in an Engineering workshop environment
* Driving licence
* Complementary transferable engineering skills
* Knowledge of Welding/fabrication
* Ability to read an engineering drawing and work in Imperial
Desirable;
* Experience in driving or shunting railway yards
