Are you a detail-oriented Design Engineer with a passion for translating complex technical requirements into precise electrical and mechanical solutions? A leading maritime systems integrator is seeking a Design Engineer to join its growing engineering team, supporting high-profile projects across global defence and commercial markets.
Responsibilities
- Develop electrical and mechanical design concepts from first principles.
- Create accurate system designs for control panels, 19" racks, and enclosures.
- Produce 2D and 3D drawings to recognised standards (ISO / BS8888).
- Generate STEP files and drawing packages for internal use and client delivery.
- Use CAD software to design compliant, manufacturable, and reliable systems.
- Support projects from initial design through to completion, ensuring regulatory compliance.
- Assist with Visio diagrams and documentation for internal and client-facing use.
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering, project, and production teams.
Experience
- HNC/HND, apprenticeship, or equivalent in electrical, mechanical, or systems engineering.
- Strong commercial experience in a design engineering environment.
- Strong working knowledge of BS7671 (18th Edition), Electricity at Work Act, and EU electrical safety directives.
- Familiarity with EMC and LVD compliance requirements.
- Proficiency in recognised CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SEE Electrical, ETAP).
- Knowledge of manufacturing techniques, material properties, and design-for-manufacture.
- Experience producing high-quality drawings and STEP files to ISO standards.
- Comfortable managing multiple priorities and self-directing tasks in a dynamic environment.
- Eligible for or currently holding UK Security Clearance (SC).
