We are looking for a Buyer to join a leading UK Space Technology company as part of their continued growth. You’ll play a vital role in ensuring that all procurement activities run smoothly and efficiently, supporting exciting projects across the UK and Europe.
Responsibilities:
- Manage all stages of the procurement process, from RFI and RFP through to negotiation, order placement, delivery tracking, and final acceptance.
- Act as the main point of contact for all procured items and supplier interactions.
- Support the development of new and existing business opportunities in the UK and European space markets.
- Work across multiple projects and customers, ensuring procurement deliverables are met on schedule.
- Contribute to proposals, work statements, budgets, and specifications.
- Lead negotiations and handle purchase order modifications when required.
- Manage procurement and delivery of both mechanical and electronic components/assemblies.
- Ensure compliance with internal business processes and correct use of ERP systems.
- Maintain awareness of ESA/NASA standards, UK/US export control guidelines, and relevant industry practices.
- Support continuous improvement and efficient project delivery within a fast‑paced, dynamic environment.
- Apply project management principles to support procurement activities and drive results.
Experience:
- Strong experience in procurement or buying, ideally within the satellite, aerospace, or defence industries.
- Proven ability to manage the full procurement cycle from RFI to component delivery.
- Strong negotiation, administration, and organisational skills.
- Experience managing multiple suppliers and projects globally.
- Comfortable engaging with vendors and making timely, informed decisions.
- Ability to analyse and understand both technical and commercial procurement requirements.
- Knowledge of ESA/ECSS, NASA, or MIL-STD standards is advantageous.
- Understanding of export/shipping regulations and quality systems (ISO 9001, AS9100, etc.).
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification is desirable but not essential.
