As a Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for developing and managing business opportunities and relationships across the UK and European institutional space sector. Working with civil and government agencies, the role focuses on market strategy, opportunity capture, and pipeline growth. Reporting to the Head of Business Development and Sales, the postholder will act as the primary account lead for institutional customers, driving engagement, coordinating internal teams, and progressing opportunities from identification through contract award.
Responsibilities:
- Identify, develop, and grow new institutional business opportunities in the UK and Europe
- Build and maintain strong relationships with institutional customers and strategic partners
- Develop and manage a qualified opportunity pipeline aligned to growth objectives
- Lead capture activities, including win strategies and pursuit planning
- Promote the company’s capabilities and value proposition to institutional stakeholders
- Develop teaming and partner relationships to strengthen bids
- Track and report pipeline activity using CRM tools
- Provide customer insight and market intelligence to internal teams
- Support pricing, bid preparation, and proposal development
- Monitor institutional portals for upcoming opportunities and RFPs
- Coordinate cross-functional teams to deliver compliant, high-quality proposals
- Lead customer engagement post-submission through to close
- Represent the organisation at customer meetings and industry events
Experience:
- Degree-level qualification or equivalent experience (technical or space-related preferred)
- Strong space sector experience in business development
- Strong understanding of the space ecosystem and institutional customers
- Proven ability to build pipelines and win new business
- Experience across the bid lifecycle from capture to award
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including proposal input
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail
- Willingness to travel as required
