The Role

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Engineer will play a key role in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of plant equipment through planned, predictive, and reactive maintenance activities. Overtime is available at 1.5 or double time on a Sunday. Hourly rate is varied upon experience and grade.

Main Duties

  • To carry out planned preventative, predictive and breakdown maintenance, repairs, refurbishment, installation, improvements and modification or upgrade to plant and services in order to minimize downtime and maintain the equipment in the best possible condition.
  • To strive towards continuous improvement of all machinery and equipment to effectively reduce engineering downtime, thereby maintaining plant availability, efficiency, productivity and product quality at all times.
  • To carry out all engineering work to high Engineering, Quality, Safety and Hygienic standards.
  • The role holder will be involved in dealing with employees at all levels of the site and liaising with different departments as needed with the key interfaces being the Production Operatives, other craft and Engineering Managers.

Key Responsibilities

  • To work across mechanical and electrical trades as qualified and authorised.
  • Ensure all engineering work is carried out in an efficient and effective manner, in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practice, Health and Safety Legislation and current Company Standards.
  • Fault diagnosis and breakdown repairs of plant, machinery and site services electrical lead.
  • Planned maintenance (PM), modifications, installations and upgrades to plant machinery and site services.
  • To utilise the CMMS fully and assist in its development to achieve World Class asset performance.
  • Upkeep and alteration of electrical or mechanical drawings as needed relevant to trade.
  • To undertake other duties as requested with due regard to relevant engineering, operational quality, safety and hygiene standards.

Qualifications

  • Engineering City and Guilds or ONC (Electrical or Mechanical) or NVQ Level 3 in Engineering (Electrical or Mechanical) or Apprenticeship followed by practical experience.
  • 17th Edition Wiring Regulations. (Electrical)

Experience

  • 2-3 years experience as a skilled engineering craftsperson or technician.
  • Practical experience gained within engineering function.
