- Scrub Nurses to work within the operating theatres at
Salford Hospital .
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Theatre Nurse with strong scrub experience to work within a busy surgical environment.
The successful candidate will support the safe and effective delivery of surgical procedures, working closely with surgeons, anaesthetists, ODPs and the wider multidisciplinary theatre team.
Key Responsibilities
- Work as a competent Scrub Nurse within the operating theatre environment.
- Prepare the theatre, equipment, instruments and sterile field prior to surgical procedures.
- Scrub for a range of surgical procedures within your area of competence.
- Maintain strict aseptic technique and infection prevention and control standards.
- Assist the surgical team throughout procedures by anticipating the needs of the surgeon.
- Pass instruments, swabs, needles and other equipment safely and efficiently.
- Maintain accurate counts of instruments, swabs and sharps in line with theatre protocols.
- Ensure all equipment and instruments are available, safe and fit for use.
- Complete appropriate documentation and theatre records.
- Work collaboratively with surgeons, anaesthetists, ODPs, nurses and other theatre staff.
- Support safe patient positioning and maintain patient dignity and privacy.
- Contribute to effective communication and handover throughout the patient's theatre journey.
- Follow local policies, procedures and clinical guidelines.
- Maintain a safe and efficient operating theatre environment.
- Escalate any concerns regarding patient safety, equipment or clinical practice appropriately.
- Support the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred perioperative care.
Essential Requirements
- Current NMC registration as a Registered Nurse.
- Recent and relevant experience working within an operating theatre environment.
- Proven experience working as a Scrub Nurse.
- Strong knowledge of aseptic technique and infection prevention and control.
- Experience working as part of a multidisciplinary theatre team.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced surgical environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to delivering safe, high-quality patient care.
- Current mandatory training relevant to the role.
- Right to work in the UK.
- Satisfactory compliance and employment checks.
