Liverpool Women's Hospital provides specialist care across areas including maternity, gynaecology, neonatal services and anaesthetics, creating a unique environment where theatre professionals play a vital role in supporting safe and effective patient care.
As an ODP, you will support patients throughout their perioperative journey, working closely with surgeons, anaesthetists, nurses and the wider multidisciplinary team to provide high-quality care across anaesthetics, theatre and recovery.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide safe and effective perioperative care to patients undergoing surgical procedures.
- Work across anaesthetics, scrub and recovery areas as required.
- Assist with the preparation, delivery and maintenance of anaesthetic care.
- Support surgical teams during procedures by providing skilled theatre assistance.
- Prepare and check specialist equipment required for theatre procedures.
- Monitor patient wellbeing throughout the perioperative pathway.
- Support safe patient positioning, transfer and handover between departments.
- Maintain accurate patient documentation and clinical records.
- Ensure infection prevention and control standards are maintained.
- Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary theatre team.
- Deliver care in line with HCPC standards, hospital policies and professional guidelines.
Essential Requirements
- Registered Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) with a valid HCPC registration.
- Recent UK hospital theatre experience.
- Experience working within anaesthetics, scrub and/or recovery.
- Strong understanding of perioperative care standards.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a busy theatre environment.
- Right to work in the UK.
- Ability to provide satisfactory employment references.
- Up-to-date mandatory training (or willingness to complete).
