- ITU Nurses to work across
Aintree University Hospital and Royal Liverpool University Hospital in Liverpool.
This is an excellent opportunity for experienced Critical Care and ITU Nurses to work within busy hospital environments, supporting patients requiring specialist, high-dependency and intensive care.
Aintree's Critical Care Unit provides care for critically ill patients, patients recovering from major surgery and those requiring specialist critical care support, including major trauma and complex surgical patients.
The Royal Liverpool University Hospital provides emergency, general and specialist care within Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, patient-centred care to critically ill patients within the ITU / Critical Care environment.
- Undertake comprehensive patient assessments and continuously monitor patients' clinical condition.
- Safely manage patients requiring advanced monitoring and organ support.
- Administer medications, intravenous therapies and other treatments in accordance with clinical guidelines.
- Care for patients requiring ventilatory support and other forms of critical care intervention, where appropriately trained and competent.
- Monitor and respond promptly to changes in a patient's condition.
- Recognise and elevate clinical deterioration appropriately.
- Maintain accurate, timely and comprehensive patient documentation.
- Work collaboratively with doctors, nurses, AHPs and the wider multidisciplinary team.
- Support the management of patients following major surgery, trauma or serious illness.
- Participate in emergency response and the stabilisation of acutely unwell patients.
- Maintain effective communication with patients, relatives and carers.
- Promote dignity, privacy, equality and respect at all times.
- Adhere to all Trust policies, procedures, infection prevention standards and professional requirements.
- Ensure all care is delivered in line with the NMC Code and relevant clinical standards. Support the safe transfer and handover of patients between departments and clinical areas.
Essential Requirements
- Valid NMC registration as a Registered Nurse.
- Recent and relevant experience working within an ITU, ICU, Critical Care or High Dependency Unit.
- Proven experience caring for critically ill patients.
- Strong knowledge of critical care nursing practices.
- Ability to work effectively in a high-pressure clinical environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Commitment to delivering safe, compassionate and patient-focused care.
- Current mandatory training relevant to the role.
- Right to work in the UK.
- Satisfactory employment and compliance checks.
