Southport Hospital .

This is an excellent opportunity for experienced Emergency Department Nurses looking for flexible agency work within a busy hospital environment.

The successful candidate will provide high-quality nursing care to patients presenting with a wide range of urgent and emergency medical conditions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide safe, effective and compassionate nursing care to patients within the A&E department.
  • Assess, monitor and manage patients presenting with a wide range of medical and traumatic conditions.
  • Undertake comprehensive patient assessments and prioritise care according to clinical need.
  • Recognise and respond promptly to patients whose condition is deteriorating.
  • Administer medications and treatments safely in line with clinical guidelines.
  • Carry out clinical procedures within your scope of practice and level of competence.
  • Monitor patients and escape any concerns appropriately.
  • Work effectively within the multidisciplinary team to ensure high-quality patient care.
  • Assist with the management of acutely unwell and critically ill patients.
  • Support the assessment and treatment of patients attending the Emergency Department.
  • Maintain accurate and timely patient documentation.
  • Provide effective handovers to colleagues and other healthcare professionals.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, relatives and carers.
  • Maintain patient dignity, privacy and confidentiality at all times.
  • Adhere to infection prevention and control procedures.
  • Comply with hospital policies, procedures and professional standards.
  • Ensure all care is delivered in accordance with the NMC Code.

Essential Requirements

  • Current NMC registration as a Registered Nurse.
  • Recent and relevant experience working within an A&E, Emergency Department or equivalent acute setting.
  • Strong clinical assessment and emergency nursing skills.
  • Experience caring for patients with a wide range of urgent and emergency conditions.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Commitment to delivering safe, compassionate and patient-centred care.
  • Current mandatory training relevant to the role.
  • Right to work in the UK.
  • Satisfactory compliance and employment checks.
