We have a vacancy for an office based Planning & Purchasing Assistant to support our Onboard Weighing Division.

The role:
The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the Purchasing Manager with the coordination of all purchasing activities, organisation of administrative activities and ensuring stock levels are maintained.
Key Responsibilities:
- Raise, distribute and follow through purchase orders.
- To assist the Manager in matching quotes, acknowledgments, drawings and other documentation to purchase orders.
- Ensure the material cert file is kept up to date in line with IATF16949 accreditation.
- Learn the Epicor system and QAD system to gain the ability to work autonomously and provide backup for sickness and vacations.
- Chase suppliers for due and overdue goods.
- Build up a relationship with some of the supplier base and occasionally undertake supplier visits.
- Assist the manager in planning a cost down reduction program across the supplier base and re-sourcing and costing products.
- Assist in negotiating lowest possible costs with suppliers and sub-contractors
- Be conversant in all aspects of purchasing, IATF16949 requirements related to Purchasing/Planning and to be prepared to attend training courses.
- Attend production meetings with Operations and the internal sales team and to assist the manager in carrying out actions from the meetings.
- Set up an inventory system for the office stationery.
- Monitor and control other building and colleague requirements such as refreshment, cleaning and uniform ordering.
- Assist the Manager in the upkeep of files associated with purchasing duties, such as NCR concessions and returns chases.
- At times to be prepared to carry out duties outside of core responsibilities within reason.
- To administer travel bookings for staff on the Bradford site.
- To liaise with the Warehouse in terms of returns, chases, goods going out of the door.
Requirements
The ideal candidate for this position will have the following skills and experience:
- 1-2 years\’ experience in a purchasing role
- Intermediate excel knowledge
- IT literate and able to use MS packages
