The Opportunity
We’re seeking a passionate Volunteer Board Member to join our female-led board, alongside HeatherLyons (Director and Founder) and CarolinaCapeloGarcia (Director and Business Manager), and to help steer Blueshift’s next chapter of growth, innovation, and inclusivity.
Key Responsibilities
Sector Leadership and Strategy
- Leverage your education‑sector insight to maintain Blueshift’s edge in after‑school and holiday club programming.
- Guide the development of new creative coding and robotics curricula, ensuring they remain cutting‑edge and pedagogically sound.
Grant Development and Accessibility
- Lead strategy to secure grants and partnerships that expand access to our programmes for under‑represented and disadvantaged learners.
- Advise on inclusive outreach models, scholarship schemes, and community partnerships to remove financial and geographic barriers.
Governance and Oversight
- Attend quarterly board meetings (in-person, London area) and post‑meeting socials to review performance, risk, and compliance.
- Ensure adherence to CIC regulations, safeguarding policies, and data‑protection standards.
Fundraising and External Relations
- Support fundraising strategy across trusts, foundations, corporate sponsors, and individual donors.
- Act as an ambassador at sector conferences, local authority forums, and community events.
Stakeholder Engagement and Advocacy
- Cultivate relationships with schools, local government, EdTech innovators, and higher‑education institutions to strengthen collaborative opportunities.
- Champion Blueshift’s mission in public and professional networks, advocating for equitable access to STEAM education.
Who We’re Looking For
- Proven Expertise: Educational leadership, curriculum design, policy, teacher training, or EdTech innovation.
- Strategic Vision: Track record of translating sector knowledge into scalable programmes and governance frameworks.
- Network and Influence: Established connections within education, funding bodies, or STEM communities.
- Commitment to Equity: Passion for widening participation and reducing barriers in creative STEM learning.
- Collaborative Leadership: Strong interpersonal skills and enthusiasm for working with a dynamic, female‑led board.
Commitment and Term
- Time: ~6–8 hours per quarter (board meeting, socials and prep), plus occasional advisory calls.
- Term: Minimum one year, renewable by mutual agreement.
- Location: Primarily in-person for quarterly meetings, with a virtual option for occasional advisory calls (or as agreed).
