Are you ready to join one of the UK’s leading Apparel License suppliers? We are seeking a motivated full-time Graduate Assistant Designer to join the design team based in our Maldon office, in Essex.
Who are we?: The Blues Group is one of the UK’s leading Apparel License suppliers. Our brands and what we do is pretty specialised, we have 5 different divisions that make up our group: Dennicci (Babywear), Blues Clothing (Toddler Daywear), Blues Nightwear (Kids & Adult Nightwear), Blues Dressing up, and Brecrest (Baby & Teen Sportswear). As a license supplier, we have the privilege to work with some amazing licenses such as Disney, Bluey, Peppa Pig & Peter Rabbit.
So, what will the role involve and what will you do? This position reports to the Designer/Junior Designer and works in partnership with the Design Manager, Design, Production and Finance teams across our offices. Core to the role is to provide a high level of support, impeccable attention to detail, and administrative skills to achieve and maintain the highest level of design, service, and quality for our customers and suppliers ensuring the Group standards are always met. You will contribute and support the business to achieve agreed objectives, commercial success, and organisational growth in line with the Group’s business strategy.
Key Accountabilities/Primary Responsibilities:
- Stay updated on current fashion trends, materials, and techniques.
- Conduct market research to identify emerging trends and consumer preferences.
- Chase samples from factories.
- Complete 1st initial comments with support from Junior Designers and Designers.
- Develop detailed technical drawings and specifications for garments.
- Select appropriate pantones and colours for each style and range.
- Liaise with the production team to ensure specs correctly represent the design.
- Regular store visits/shop reports.
- Accurate recording of all relevant design information onto the Group system.
- Respond to customer and factory queries.
- Liaise with Licensors and assist with checking License approvals including concept, strike offs and PP sample uploads obtaining full product approval.
- Create and send to the factories new sample requests, style details and accurate artwork: sending reference sources where applicable.
- Checking initial samples in comparison to tech packs before sending to the customer.
- Support the design team to ensure all key dates are achieved.
- Assist the design team with adhoc administration duties.
- Assist with the design of new packaging for each range where applicable.
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with cross-functional teams across the group.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in design or related field or relevant work experience.
- Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team and communicate effectively across departments.
