We are seeking an experienced Marine Construction Foreman / Heavy Equipment Operator to lead field crews while remaining actively involved in day-to-day marine construction operations.
This is a hands-on foreman position for someone who is comfortable leading a crew and climbing into the equipment when needed.
A major part of the role involves operating excavators from barges , so experience working around water, barges, tides, currents, and changing site conditions is highly preferred.
The ideal candidate comes from a marine construction, heavy civil, waterfront, pile driving, or similar construction background and knows how to safely get work done in challenging field conditions.
- What You\'ll Do
- Lead and organize a marine construction crew in daily field operations
- Operate excavators and other heavy equipment, including equipment positioned on barges
- Plan and sequence daily construction activities
- Read construction plans and perform basic field layout
- Coordinate crews, materials, barges, boats, and equipment
- Perform or supervise pile driving, sheet pile installation, shoreline construction, demolition, and lifting operations
- Account for tides, currents, water levels, spuds, and barge stability when planning and performing work
- Conduct daily safety meetings and enforce jobsite safety requirements
- Monitor workmanship and maintain quality standards
- Communicate schedules, equipment needs, and field conditions with project management
- Complete daily reports, equipment inspections, and required project documentation
- Hold crew members accountable for safety, attendance, productivity, and proper equipment care
$65,000–$90,000 annually , depending on experience.
Compensation will be based primarily on marine construction leadership experience, heavy equipment operating ability, and experience operating equipment from barges.
