Job Purpose:
As a Mechanical Design Manager, you will represent the client in meetings with the design team, ensuring that all technical information, specifications, and drawings are effectively communicated to the site and CAD teams. You will be responsible for the approval and sign-off of drawings, facilitating the review of electrical designs, and providing technical support throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the client’s representative in design meetings, liaising with clients to gather technical information, specifications, and drawings for the site and CAD teams.
- Collaborate with the CAD team to finalize drawings, ensuring design changes are captured before issuing to Operations.
- Review and ensure that drawings align with contracted requirements (ERs) and are compatible with site conditions and interfacing services.
- Facilitate the electrical design team in reviewing and approving electrical designs and resolving queries throughout the project.
- Produce and issue technical submittals for major plant equipment.
- Participate in the technical specification and negotiation process for the procurement of major plant.
- Provide technical support to the Operations teams, including attending client and site meetings as required.
- Prepare detailed design documentation for the Operations team, ensuring smooth design handover and project implementation.
- Collaborate with the Commercial Manager to ensure that changes are documented, costed, and instructed correctly.
Key Result Areas:
- Produce and circulate weekly design reports.
- Contribute to pre-construction programs and maintain a drawing tracker, issuing design reports according to the project schedule.
- Ensure that drawings and major plant technical submittals are issued as per the pre-construction program.
- Support the CAD department in chasing the sign-off of coordinated drawings.
- Assist the Operations department with on-site technical issues, liaising with specialist sub-contractors and integrating their input into the design process.
- Attend client workshops and design team meetings, ensuring timely issue of required information to meet project deadlines.
