Role Overview

The Environmental team is responsible for managing, leading, and assuring environmental appraisals and assessments across infrastructure projects. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to complex infrastructure schemes, working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams and ensuring compliance with regulatory and environmental standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage or lead the delivery of environmental workstreams on infrastructure projects
  • Contribute to Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) and design development
  • Work independently and within project teams to improve environmental outcomes
  • Project manage and author environmental assessments, coordinating inputs from subject matter experts
  • Provide technical environmental advice to clients on infrastructure and construction projects
  • Embed sustainability and environmental requirements into project design and delivery
  • Support business development activities, including preparing bid documents and fee proposals
  • Ensure environmental compliance in line with client standards, policies, and regulatory requirements
  • Liaise with clients to coordinate environmental inputs and resolve technical queries

Candidate Requirements

  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in an environmental discipline
  • Experience working on infrastructure or construction projects, ideally within consultancy, contractor, or client organisations
  • Familiarity with Development Consent Orders (DCOs), consents, and permitting processes
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce high-quality technical reports
  • Knowledge of UK and EU environmental legislation and best practice guidance
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills, with the ability to evaluate options and apply sound judgement
  • Effective problem-solving skills, including the ability to interpret complex data and develop practical solutions
  • Chartered status or working towards professional chartership
