An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Engineer or Senior Flood Modeller to join a growing infrastructure and water team. The role focuses on delivering flood risk, drainage, and water management solutions across a wide range of development and public sector projects. You will play a key role in managing projects from concept through to detailed design and construction, supporting sustainable development through innovative flood alleviation and drainage strategies.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage hydraulic modelling and flood risk projects
- Produce and review Flood Risk Assessments and drainage strategies
- Design flood mitigation measures, including SuDS and surface water systems
- Manage and mentor junior engineers and modellers
- Oversee project delivery, including programme, quality, and budget
- Support client relationships and contribute to fee proposals
- Coordinate design development from planning through to construction
Requirements
- Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
- 5-8+ years' relevant experience in flood risk and drainage
- Strong experience with InfoWorks ICM and/or TUFLOW / Flood Modeller
- Knowledge of drainage design and surface water management
- Experience preparing Flood Risk Assessments
- Excellent communication and report writing skills
- Ability to manage projects and work collaboratively within a team
Desirable
- Progressing toward or holding Chartered status (CEng, MICE, CIWEM)
- Experience with GIS software (QGIS or MapInfo)
- Familiarity with drainage design tools (e.g. InfoDrainage, WinDES)
- Understanding of UK planning and flood risk policy
