Looking for Bridge Engineers — we are currently working with a leading contractor within their own in-house design team specializing in infrastructure and construction services. Our client is looking for a highways-biased design lead bridge engineer to join the team where a hybrid working arrangement is offered on competitive market rates. This contract will involve design across major highway schemes with the expectation of also supporting and mentoring junior team members. 2 days required in Birmingham per week.
Responsibilities
- Create and analyse bridge structure designs for a variety of infrastructure projects.
- Put together accurate calculations, reports, and specifications for the project, ensuring that all designs follow the project specifications and requirements.
- Help junior engineers expand their knowledge, whilst aiding in service development.
- Conduct structural assessments, feasibility evaluations, and site visits to ensure the project is progressing efficiently through all the project stages.
- Ensure that the project follows all current standards, quality procedures, and safety requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil and/or Structural Engineering, with a chartered status, or working towards one. Chartership or close to Chartership is ideal (CEng MIStructE or CEng MICE).
- 5+ years of experience with working on bridge and/or infrastructure projects – highways experience essential.
- Solid understanding of current British Standards, Eurocodes, and highway guidelines.
- Proficiency in LUSAS or Midas.
- Strong proficiency in structural analysis software, with the ability to write accurate technical reports.
- Proficient communication and project coordination skills, with a problem‑solving mindset.
